The Cultural Arts Center

Since the building of Southside Elementary School in 1928, hundreds of thousands of children have crossed its doors as students preparing for their future walk in life.

In May 2002, the building took on a new life as
The Cultural Arts Center, home to 6 arts organizations. The passing through of students young and old has continued, but this time it is to learn and engage in the arts as part of their walk through life.

Southside SoundsSaturday, August 26, 2017 2:00-8:00

Southside Sounds was born out of the love of using this old school to bring together families one more time through their love of the performing arts. Music from 16 Strings, Hullabaloo, Pontiac Stove Company, and Firedogs, all local bands made up of local artists and musicians will provide the backdrop for an afternoon and evening of laid back family fun, conversation, and memories. B&B Inflatables will be providing huge inflatables for the children’s area that will also include games, art projects, and a children’s concession stand. We haven’t forgotten the adults so there will be a cool place to get beverages and plenty of local Food Truck vendors to take care of those hungry tummies.

All proceeds from this event go to fund programs held at the center in the performing arts, visual arts, and educational arts, as well as projects taken off site to schools and a variety of non-profit sites to work with those who would never be able to explore art of any genre. It also will go towards scholarships for those students from all walks of life that need help coming to classes and enjoying the exploration we provide. And it helps preserve this 89 year old school building, the home for SEACT, Spark Theater Company, Providence Christian School Drama Dept, Tri-State Community Orchestra and Wiregrass Youth Symphony as well as the Cultural Arts Center’s programming department.

Last year 66,140 people came through the doors of the CAC to engage in the arts. Come be a part of a growing number of people who want to see their community art center grow and engage more. Get your tickets now online and in advance and save dollars. Mark your calendar for AUGUST 26, 2017 and we will see you at the pARTy!!!!
